Founded in 2015 and officially launched in 2018, Flower Bodega was created by New York native Aurea Sanabria Molaei.
While working in the event and fashion industries, she found a passion for flower arranging and its therapeutic sense of calming. Through formal training at Flower School and The New York Botanical Garden, she began creating custom arrangements and floral experiences for various brands and events.
Why Flower Bodega?
bo·de·ga: (in the US) a small grocery store, especially in a Spanish-speaking neighborhood.
Aurea's father worked as a florist in the 1970's, learning cleaning and flower care techniques in his late teens. During her early childhood years, Aurea would spend her days running around her family’s Bronx corner bodega where she learned to appreciate the charm of these neighborhood fixtures.
Throughout her teen years and while also playing hostess at home (#adulting), she would often experiment with local bodega flowers to create beautiful, colorful designs.
What better way to pay homage to her family’s history, than to name her brand after these New York City staples?
